In late 2017 the Minecraft server hosting provider LiteCloud.me experienced a significant security breach. An unauthorized party gained access to the internal systems resulting in the exposure of sensitive user information. The incident involved the publication of a database containing server names and player details. The vulnerability allowed attackers to extract data because passwords were stored in plain text format without proper hashing or encryption. This breach affected approximately 400000 players who used the hosting services for their gaming environments.
