About this leak
In July 2020 a data breach occurred at the online auction platform LiveAuctioneers. The incident was traced back to a compromised employee account at a third party security provider which allowed unauthorized access to the company database. The leaked information included extensive user profiles and encrypted passwords. While the passwords were salted and hashed using bcrypt the sheer volume of personal data exposed posed a significant risk for credential stuffing and phishing attacks against the affected users.
