In August 2021 the mental health and social support application Lyf experienced a data breach that exposed the personal information of approximately 228000 users. The incident involved an unauthorized access to the platform database containing sensitive user details. The leaked information included full names, email addresses, geographic locations, and dates of birth. Additionally, passwords were found in the dataset stored as hashes of an unidentified format. This breach is particularly sensitive due to the nature of the application which provides a space for users to share personal struggles and mental health journeys.
