In October 2017 the website Mac Torrents which provided access to software for Apple computers suffered a data breach. The incident led to the exposure of the entire user database including sensitive account details. The leak occurred due to a technical vulnerability that allowed unauthorized access to the underlying database structure. The compromised information included usernames email addresses and encrypted passwords. This event affected nearly two hundred thousand registered users who were active on the platform at the time of the incident.
