In September 2024 a data collection incident involving the McSkill Minecraft server forum occurred. The data was obtained through parsing methods targeting user profiles on the platform. The breach exposed details of approximately 31 thousand users including their forum nicknames and profile information. Additionally the dataset contains links to external social media accounts such as Instagram and VK for users who had linked them to their forum profiles. This incident highlights the vulnerability of community forum data to automated scraping tools which can aggregate public and semi-public user information into searchable databases.
