In early 2018 the cloud storage service Memopal suffered a security incident that resulted in the exposure of user account information. The breach included a database containing millions of unique email addresses along with associated passwords. Memopal provides online backup and file synchronization services and this leak potentially compromised the digital assets of its global user base. The credentials were later found circulating in the public domain and aggregated into large credential stuffing lists used by malicious actors for unauthorized access to various online platforms.
