In January 2016 the Minecraft World Map community website experienced a security breach that resulted in the exposure of user data. The incident involved an unauthorized access to the database where players shared game maps. The breach led to the compromise of approximately 71 thousand unique records. The leaked data included sensitive information such as email addresses and IP addresses along with salted password hashes. This incident highlighted vulnerabilities in smaller gaming community platforms during that period.
