In May 2020 the gaming cheat provider known as MMO-trick was compromised by attackers. The breach resulted in the exposure of approximately 94 thousand user records from their database. The site specialized in selling bots and cheats for World of Warcraft before it ceased operations. The leaked information includes sensitive user data such as email addresses, names, dates of birth, and IP addresses. Furthermore, passwords were found to be stored in MD5 hash format with salt which poses a significant security risk for users who reuse credentials across different platforms.
