In 2023 an unauthorized party gained access to a database associated with the financial service MoneyBookers also known as Skrill. The incident resulted in the exposure of personal information for approximately 30000 users. The breach included sensitive identity details and contact information which could be utilized for targeted phishing campaigns or identity theft operations. The leak highlights ongoing vulnerabilities in digital payment processing platforms and the high value of financial user data on the dark web.
