In 2019 the Russian Minecraft game server MoonMc experienced a security incident resulting in the exposure of its user database. The leak impacted approximately 90000 players and included sensitive technical and personal details. The breach originated from the servers AuthMe plugin system which is commonly used for authentication in Minecraft environments. Data exposed in this incident included player nicknames associated with their last known IP addresses and account passwords stored as cryptographic hashes. This type of leak allows for potential account takeover if users reused the same credentials across other gaming platforms or services.
