Mosaic

A massive data breach involving the Brazilian credit and financial scoring company Mosaic led to the exposure of personal information belonging to millions of individuals. The incident occurred in early 2021 when a database containing approximately 281 million records was identified. The compromised data included private financial details such as prosperity levels and official taxpayer identification numbers known as CPF. While the initial leak was reported to involve hundreds of millions of entries, subsequent public availability stabilized at around 68 million unique records. This breach represents a significant security failure in the Brazilian financial sector exposing citizens to potential identity theft and targeted fraud.
