In December 2022 a major security breach occurred at the Moscow Electronic School platform school.mos.ru. Hackers managed to gain unauthorized access to the systems and subsequently leaked a database containing sensitive information of approximately 17 million users including students and parents. The exposed records included full names, email addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, and government identification numbers such as SNILS and citizenship details. This incident represents one of the largest educational data exposures in the region, compromising the privacy of millions of minors and their legal guardians.
