In early 2019 an unprotected Elasticsearch instance belonging to the Chinese recruitment platform MoSeeker was discovered online. The server contained millions of records including sensitive candidate profiles and job application details. The data exposure was caused by a misconfigured database that allowed public access without authentication. Exposed information included personal contact details and professional history of job seekers across China. Security researchers identified the vulnerability and notified the company to secure the server and prevent further unauthorized access to candidate data.
