In December 2022 the Movie Forums discussion platform suffered a data security incident resulting in the exposure of its user database. The breach involved the unauthorized access and disclosure of sensitive member information. The leaked data included usernames, email addresses, and IP addresses. Additionally, passwords stored using the vBulletin hashing algorithm were compromised. The incident affected approximately 38,200 registered users. The vulnerability likely stemmed from an exploit in the forum software or weak server security, allowing attackers to extract the member table.
