MrExcel

In December 2016 the Microsoft Excel community forum known as MrExcel experienced a significant data breach. The incident resulted in the exposure of approximately 366000 user accounts. The compromise occurred due to a vulnerability in the forum software which allowed attackers to access the underlying database. The exposed data included usernames email addresses IP addresses and dates of birth. Additionally passwords were leaked in the form of MD5 hashes which are considered cryptographically weak and susceptible to cracking by modern standards.
