In September 2022 the Italian online retailer Muscle Nutrition experienced a significant data breach affecting approximately 138 thousand customers. The incident was attributed to the threat actor known as STDPWN who exploited improper server configurations to gain unauthorized access. The exposed database contained highly sensitive personal information including full names and contact details. Security analysis revealed that user passwords were stored using MD5 or BCRYPT hashing algorithms. This breach highlights the risks associated with misconfigured web servers which allow attackers to bypass standard security protocols and extract entire customer databases.
