In May 2024 luxury retailer Neiman Marcus experienced a significant data breach linked to a widespread campaign targeting Snowflake cloud storage environments. An unauthorized actor gained access to a database containing sensitive customer information which was subsequently offered for sale on a cybercrime forum. The incident exposed personal details of millions of customers including contact information and transaction related data. This breach was part of a larger series of attacks affecting over one hundred organizations that utilized similar cloud infrastructure configurations.
