Nic Snail is a Russian educational platform specializing in competitions and olympiads for children. In June 2020 a data breach occurred exposing information of approximately 170 thousand users. The incident resulted in the compromise of personal details and security credentials. The breach included sensitive information such as email addresses, full names, phone numbers, birth dates, and physical addresses. Additionally, IP addresses and workplace information were exposed. Security credentials were leaked in the form of MD5 hashes with salt, which are considered weak by modern security standards and susceptible to cracking.
