In September 2020 the Nitro PDF productivity service suffered a massive data breach involving over 70 million unique user records. The incident occurred due to an exposed database that was subsequently traded on underground forums. The compromised information included highly sensitive authentication data such as bcrypt hashed passwords alongside personal identifiers and document metadata.
