Nival

In February 2016 the Russian video game developer Nival suffered a significant data breach as part of a series of cyberattacks targeting Russian entities. The incident was reportedly politically motivated. The breach resulted in the exposure of over 1.5 million user accounts. The compromised data included sensitive personal details such as birth dates and full names which were subsequently leaked online. The attackers targeted the company infrastructure to extract database contents affecting a large portion of their international player base.
