In 2019 the Russian gaming community website Ongab.ru suffered a significant data security incident. The breach resulted in the exposure of approximately 92000 user records. The leaked information included email addresses, usernames, and social media identifiers for platforms like Facebook and VKontakte. Most critically, user passwords were leaked as MD5 hashes, which are highly vulnerable to cracking. This exposure posed a direct risk to users who reused passwords across other services.
