OnlineIgry.ua

In early 2021 the Ukrainian online gaming portal OnlineIgry.ua suffered a significant security breach. An unauthorized party managed to gain access to the backend database resulting in the exposure of approximately 600000 user accounts. The compromised information included sensitive details such as user nicknames email addresses and account passwords stored as MD5 hashes. Additionally the incident leaked the IP addresses of the users which could potentially be used for geolocation or further targeted attacks. The breach highlights common vulnerabilities in legacy hashing algorithms like MD5 which are susceptible to cracking.
