In March 2020 the Minecraft server known as Opdex was subjected to a cyberattack that led to a significant data breach. The incident resulted in the exposure of sensitive user information including account credentials. The breach was particularly severe because user passwords were stored in plain text format without any cryptographic hashing. The leaked database includes network identifiers and gaming profiles belonging to the server community members. The service has since become inactive following the security compromise.
