About this leak
In January 2021 the Australian branch of the international charity Oxfam suffered a significant data breach when an unauthorized party accessed a database containing information on approximately 1.8 million supporters. The incident involved the theft of data from a legacy system which was subsequently listed for sale on a popular cybercrime forum. The compromised information included personal details and contact information of donors and campaigners. While full credit card numbers were not exposed some partial financial records and banking details were part of the set. The data was eventually leaked publicly for free by threat actors seeking to damage the organizations reputation or provide data for phishing campaigns.
