In February 2025 the Polish regional portal Ox.pl experienced a significant security breach resulting in the exposure of its user database. The incident led to the unauthorized publication of sensitive information belonging to approximately 83 thousand registered members. The leaked data includes user nicknames, email addresses, and IP addresses. Additionally, passwords were compromised in the form of MD5 hashes with user-specific salts. This type of breach typically occurs due to vulnerabilities in the website database management system or through unauthorized access to the backend server hosting the user records.
