In September 2024 the Russian online retailer of electronic cigarettes Papiroska.rf suffered a cyber attack resulting in a significant data breach. The incident involved the unauthorized extraction of a database containing 836 thousand user records. The compromised data includes personal details such as full names email addresses and physical residence addresses. In specific instances links to social media profiles on VKontakte were also exposed. According to analysis the leak appears to be partial as many active user accounts from the platform are not represented in the published data set.
