Parapa

In August 2016 the Russian gaming forum Parapa which was part of the Mail.ru ecosystem suffered a significant data breach. The incident was part of a larger wave of attacks targeting multiple forum platforms owned by the same parent company. The attackers managed to compromise the forum database resulting in the exposure of approximately 4.9 million user records. The leaked data included sensitive information such as usernames email addresses and passwords stored as salted MD5 hashes. This breach highlighted vulnerabilities in older forum software and the risks associated with shared infrastructure across gaming communities.
