Parkmobile

In March 2021 the leading parking app ParkMobile suffered a major data breach affecting approximately 21 million users. The incident was linked to a vulnerability in a third party software used by the company which allowed unauthorized access to their systems. The stolen data included highly sensitive customer information such as encrypted passwords and vehicle details. The breach was subsequently advertised for sale on a dark web marketplace and later shared on public hacking forums. ParkMobile notified users and recommended password changes although they stated that credit card information and parking history were not compromised in this specific event.
