PayHere

In March 2022 the Sri Lankan payment service provider PayHere suffered a massive data breach involving over 65 GB of sensitive information. The incident occurred due to an unauthorized access to their database which was later leaked on a popular hacking forum. The exposed data included personal details of approximately 1.5 million users such as names and contact information alongside transaction records and masked credit card details. The breach significantly impacted the financial sector in the region highlighting vulnerabilities in payment gateway security measures.
