The Persianinoz forum which served as a digital community for Iranians living in Australia suffered a significant data breach in November 2019. The incident involved an unauthorized access to the forum database resulting in the exposure of sensitive user information. The leaked dataset included personal identifiers and security credentials. Technical analysis shows that passwords were stored using salted MD5 hashing which is considered cryptographically weak by modern security standards. This breach compromised the privacy of approximately eighteen thousand community members who used the platform for networking and social interaction.
