In early 2021 the Belarusian petition platform Petitions.by also known as Convenient City suffered a major data breach. The incident came to light in May 2021 when a database containing information of approximately 208 thousand users was leaked online for free. Reports suggest the actual compromise happened in March 2021 and the full dataset could potentially include up to 600 thousand records. The breach exposed personal identification details of citizens who used the platform for social activism and local initiatives in Belarus.
