Phone House Espana

In April 2021 the prominent Spanish mobile retailer Phone House suffered a significant ransomware attack orchestrated by the Babuk group. After the company refused to comply with ransom demands the attackers published several gigabytes of internal databases on their darknet leak site. The compromised data included sensitive information belonging to millions of customers and employees. The breach was primarily caused by an exploitation of the internal network infrastructure allowing the threat actors to exfiltrate multiple SQL databases before encrypting the local systems.
