Pikabu

In February 2022 the popular Russian social entertainment platform Pikabu suffered a significant data exposure. A database containing records of approximately 4 million users was leaked online. While the initial data was encrypted hackers managed to decrypt and release a subset of over 1 million records. The breach allegedly occurred due to a vulnerability in the systems of the service provider. The exposed information includes personal identifiers that could be used for phishing or social engineering attacks against the platform users.
