In late 2016 the French gaming community Pixelmon.fr suffered a significant data breach. The incident involved the unauthorized access and extraction of the user database from their forum and gaming services. The leaked information primarily included account credentials and personal identifiers of the players. The breach was attributed to vulnerabilities in the forum software which allowed attackers to dump the underlying SQL database containing sensitive member information. This leak circulated in the darknet and gaming communities for several years after the initial compromise.
