About this leak
In October 2020 the popular online photo editing service Pixlr suffered a significant data breach when a malicious actor known as ShinyHunters gained unauthorized access to the company database. The breach resulted in the exposure of approximately 1.9 million user records which were later posted on a darknet forum for free. The data dump contained sensitive information including user login credentials and geographic details. The incident was part of a larger campaign by the same hacking group targeting multiple web services during that period. Security researchers confirmed that the credentials were leaked in a format that could be exploited for credential stuffing attacks.
