In May 2020 the information portal PlayThePlanet suffered a significant data breach. The incident resulted in the unauthorized exposure of personal information belonging to over 123 thousand registered users. The leaked data included email addresses and usernames along with passwords stored as salted MD5 hashes. This security compromise affected a diverse user base interested in automotive business and health topics as the portal served as a multi thematic content hub.
