In May 2023 the Thai electronics retailer PowerBuy suffered a data breach involving approximately 200000 customer records. The incident exposed sensitive personal and transactional information from the online platform. Data was reportedly accessed by unauthorized actors and subsequently shared on hacker forums. The compromise included contact details and purchase history which poses risks of targeted phishing and social engineering attacks against Thai consumers.
