PrivatBank 2014

In June 2014 the largest Ukrainian financial institution PrivatBank suffered a massive data breach attributed to the hacker collective known as Green Dragon. The attackers claimed to have compromised the banks internal infrastructure and gained access to sensitive customer records. The breach was politically motivated according to the attackers statements. The leaked information included extensive personal details such as full names phone numbers dates of birth and official identification numbers. This incident highlighted significant vulnerabilities in the regional financial sector during a period of high geopolitical tension.
