In August 2019 the Spanish online marketplace PromoFarma experienced a significant security breach resulting in the exposure of customer information. The incident came to light when the stolen database was offered for sale on various darknet trading platforms. The compromised data included over 2.7 million records in total with approximately 1.3 million unique email addresses. The breach involved the extraction of customer names alongside their contact information. PromoFarma operates as a health and beauty marketplace connecting customers with pharmacies. The leaked information posed a risk of targeted phishing attacks and unauthorized access to user accounts.
