In March 2023 the Russian educational platform ProPostuplenie designed for university applicants suffered a significant data breach. The incident resulted in the exposure of approximately 520,000 records that were subsequently leaked via public forums. The compromised database contained sensitive information belonging to students teachers and parents. The breach included personal identifiers and account credentials where passwords were stored as MD5 hashes which are highly vulnerable to cracking. This leak highlights security weaknesses in platforms handling educational and minor data within the RU region.
