In March 2016 the Qhimm forum dedicated to Final Fantasy modding suffered a data breach. The incident led to the exposure of the user database containing personal information of thousands of members. The hack was likely made possible due to vulnerabilities in the forum software which allowed unauthorized access to internal tables. Leaked data included usernames and email addresses along with salted MD5 password hashes. This breach primarily affected enthusiasts of classic Japanese role playing games who were registered on the platform to share mods and technical information.
