In July 2016 the QuickJump gaming news forum suffered a significant data breach affecting its community members. The incident involved the unauthorized access and exposure of a database containing sensitive user information. The compromised data included email addresses, usernames, dates of birth, and IP addresses. Additionally, passwords stored as vBulletin salted hashes were part of the leak. This security failure exposed over 334000 registered users to potential credential stuffing and phishing attacks. The breach is attributed to vulnerabilities commonly found in older forum software versions that allowed attackers to extract the user database.
