RealGM

In June 2015 the popular sports news and forum website RealGM suffered a significant data breach. The incident involved the unauthorized access and extraction of a database containing information from approximately 170000 registered forum members. The compromised data included sensitive personal identifiers such as usernames and email addresses along with technical data like IP addresses. Security analysis revealed that user passwords were also part of the leak though they were stored using Phpass or Bcrypt hashing algorithms. This breach exposed a large portion of the sites community to potential credential stuffing and phishing attacks especially for those reusing passwords across other platforms.
