In June 2023 the Russian information and entertainment portal Rea-Media suffered a data breach that compromised its user database. The incident led to the exposure of sensitive information including email addresses and full names. Technical details revealed that the leak contained user nicknames and passwords stored as MD5 hashes with salt. Additionally the last known IP addresses of the users were included in the leaked dataset. The scale of the incident is relatively small but poses a risk for users who reuse passwords across multiple platforms.
