RecklessPk

In April 2015 the popular private Runescape server known as RecklessPk suffered a data breach that exposed the personal information of its community members. The incident involved the unauthorized access and extraction of the Simple Machines Forum database. The compromised data included user account credentials such as usernames and email addresses along with technical identifiers like IP addresses. Crucially passwords were stored as SMF hashes which are susceptible to cracking. The scale of the breach impacted approximately 82 thousand unique user accounts causing a significant security risk for players who reused credentials across other gaming platforms.
