Redem

In April 2022 the gift card trading platform Redem experienced a security incident resulting in the exposure of user data. The breach affected approximately 23600 registered participants. Investigation revealed that unauthorized parties gained access to sensitive database records containing personal identifiers and security credentials. The compromised information included contact details and cryptographic hashes of user passwords which were processed using the Bcrypt algorithm. This incident highlights the risks associated with digital asset marketplaces and the importance of robust credential storage and multi factor authentication for financial services users.
