In March 2023 hackers targeted the official government newspaper of the Russian Federation Rossiyyskaya Gazeta specifically focusing on subdomains Pravo.rg.ru and Works.rg.ru. The breach resulted in the extraction of a user database containing approximately 68 thousand records. The leaked information included full names and email addresses alongside passwords stored as MD5 hashes. While the data was reported to be somewhat cluttered it represents a significant exposure of credentials and personal details from a state media entity during a period of heightened hacktivism.
