In December 2018 the digital tabletop gaming platform Roll20 suffered a significant data breach. An unauthorized party gained access to the platform database and subsequently offered the data for sale on a dark web marketplace. The incident impacted approximately 4 million users and included sensitive personal identifiers along with hashed credentials and partial financial information. This breach was part of a larger series of hacks attributed to a threat actor targeting multiple high-profile web services during that period.
