Rostelecom

In December 2021 a significant data breach affected the Smart House service operated by the major Russian telecommunications provider Rostelecom. The security incident resulted in the unauthorized exposure of a database containing sensitive information of approximately 712 thousand customers. The leaked data included user email addresses full names and mobile phone numbers along with technical details such as IP addresses. Furthermore the breach exposed user passwords stored as BCRYPT hashes. The incident highlights vulnerabilities in IoT and smart home infrastructure management within large scale internet service providers.
