Russian Motor Insurers

In March 2023 a massive data breach involving the Russian Union of Auto Insurers RSA exposed the personal information of approximately 68 million individuals and 5 million legal entities. The incident compromised a vast database containing records from the past four years. The exposed data included full names dates of birth regional residency information and comprehensive vehicle details. Although surnames were partially masked with asterisks in the initial dump security analysts confirmed that approximately 90 percent of these names were successfully decrypted using automated methods. This leak represents one of the largest exposures of automotive and insurance data in the region providing a detailed map of vehicle ownership and personal tax identifiers.
